Insurance and Fees

We believe that high-quality, specialized mental health care should be a universal right, not a privilege reserved only for those who can afford it.  Accepting insurance is, for us, an act of social justice—one small way to increase access to care within a system that too often excludes those most in need. While we recognize that participating in for-profit, managed care systems means operating within a deeply flawed and often oppressive system, it is a concession we make in order to serve more people who might not otherwise have access to meaningful therapy. 

Because of this, we are currently in-network with Aetna and UnitedHealthcare, and are also happy to provide a Superbill for clients with other insurance plans who wish to seek reimbursement.  Please contact your insurance provider prior to our work to determine out of network reimbursement benefits.

We work with a third-party mental health company called Alma to verify your benefits and eligibility and all other billing.  This allows us more time to focus on what matters most: supporting people in need.  

Individual therapy:

• 50 minutes: $250

Relationship therapy:

• 50 minutes: $300
• 90 minutes: $325

 We reserve a limited number of sliding scale spots specifically for clients who hold marginalized or minority identities and meet certain criteria, as part of our commitment to increasing access to care. Please reach out to us directly to learn more about current availability and options.

When you schedule an appointment, we reserve that spot for you and only you, which means in the event you do not attend or you need to cancel within 24 hours, that spot was not available to offer to others seeking an appointment.   This policy is in place not only to respect the time we have committed to our work, but to protect the consistency and momentum of your therapeutic progress. Your appointments are a dedicated space for your healing, and keeping that commitment is an important part of the process. Because of this, we charge a non-refundable fee of $250 for sessions not attended without notice, or cancelled within the 24 hour timeframe.  If possible, we will do our best to be flexible if we are able to reschedule within the week to avoid incurring the fee.  We are unable to guarantee there will be another space available, so we ask giving at minimum 24 hours notice for cancellation to allow us to offer the time to others.  

 Under the federal No Surprises law, health care providers are required to provide clients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for services. This is called a Good Faith Estimate.

If you are paying out of pocket for therapy services, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate that explains how much your care will cost. You can request this estimate in writing before your first session or at any time during treatment. The estimate will include the cost of services over a projected period of time based on your unique goals and frequency of sessions.

 This Good Faith Estimate shows the costs of items and services that are reasonably expected for your health care needs for an item or service. The estimate is based on information known at the time the estimate was created, and does not include any unknown or unexpected costs that may arise during treatment.
